The announcement was made today by Gerald Keddy, Member of Parliament for South Shore-St. Margaret’s, on behalf of the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway. “The Government of Canada is providing timely, targeted stimulus to communities all along the South Shore by supporting the upgrade and renewal of community facilities,” said Gerald Keddy, Member of Parliament for South Shore-St. Margaret’s. “Our Government’s Economic Action Plan is stimulating the economy, creating jobs, and supporting communities hit hardest by the global economic slowdown.” Today’s investment of $404,416 through the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF), supports the phase one revitalization of the LaHave River Waterfront and the downtown core. This phase will include site upgrades and the installation of a fountain in the King Street Court Park as well as a floating gazebo, gangway ramp, stairs, and look off point, site furniture, and interpretive panels and signage. Canada’s Economic Action Plan provides funding over two years for the CAF program. The CAF program is delivering timely and targeted stimulus to help communities and industries meet the challenges arising from the impact of the global economic slowdown.
