The Government Of Canada Helps Budding Entrepreneurs In Shelburne Develop Business Skills

SHELBURNE, Nova Scotia — Gerald Keddy, Member of Parliament for South Shore–St. Margaret’s and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, on behalf of the Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, today announced funding to help individuals in Shelburne develop their business skills and start their own businesses.

“The Government of Canada is helping individuals in Shelburne gain the skills they need to start their own businesses,” said Mr Keddy. “These projects will allow local entrepreneurs to increase their business knowledge and help build a more productive local economy.”

Through the Self-Employment Assistance program, the Government of Canada is providing $284,373 in funding to the Shelburne County Business Development Centre. This funding will be used to help 16 aspiring entrepreneurs develop a business plan through individualized assistance and workshops on marketing, selling, customer service, accounting, and other business skills.

Service Canada’s Self-Employment Assistance program supports projects aimed at helping insured participants gain the skills they need to become self-employed. Self-Employment Assistance activities include providing clients with information about the labour market, and helping them develop business concepts and business plans.
