Gerald Keddy named Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - Prime Minister Stephen Harper appointed a new team of Parliamentary Secretaries on November 7, 2008.

Gerald Keddy, Member of Parliament for South Shore—St. Margaret's continues in his role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade.  Keddy will be working with the Honourable Stockwell Day, the newly-appointed Minister of International Trade.

“I am really looking forward to working with Minister Day to advance Canada’s global trade agenda, and I am honoured that the Prime Minister has awarded me the opportunity to continue this responsibility,” said Keddy.

Keddy will be responsible for guiding the Government’s trade agenda in the House of Commons and within the Standing Committee of International Trade.     Other duties as Parliamentary Secretary include answering questions and tabling reports in the House of Commons on behalf of the Minister, and representing the Minister on Trade Missions. 

“This will be an extremely busy role in parliament given Canada's expanding trade agenda,” Keddy said. “At this time of global economic uncertainty International Trade will play an even greater role in Canada's road to recovery.”
