The Government of Canada Supports DvL Publishing
April 24, 2008
LIVERPOOL, Nova Scotia, April 24, 2008 – Readers of magazines devoted to country living will continue to have access to two specialty magazines, thanks in part to an investment from the Government of Canada. Gerald Keddy, Member of Parliament (South Shore–St. Margaret’s), on behalf of the Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages, today announced funding for Atlantic Horse & Pony and Rural Delivery, both published by DvL Publishing, a magazine publisher in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. DvL Publishing will receive $43,311 in funding, which will help ensure high levels of Canadian editorial content in these two paid-circulation Canadian magazines. “This funding is proof of the Government of Canada’s commitment to equipping the magazine industry to offer Canadians a wide range of high-quality magazines,” said Minister Verner. “Our magazine-publishing industry is a powerful symbol of our creativity and innovative spirit, and supporting it enhances the vitality of our culture and economy.” “Our Government is pleased to support Atlantic Horse & Pony and Rural Delivery and recognizes the need for readers in all regions of the country to have affordable access to a diversity of Canadian reading material,” said Mr. Keddy. The Government of Canada has provided this support under the Support for Editorial Content component of the Canada Magazine Fund program. The Department of Canadian Heritage, through this formula-based contribution program, provides funding to eligible Canadian-owned and ‑controlled magazines based on their total of eligible editorial expenses. |
